Laura Linney's portrayal of vulnerable, yet strong characters has made her one of today's greatest American actors. Born to a renowned playwright's father but was raised by a single mom who made a living by working as a nurse. She became interested in theatre while having summers spent with her father then pursuing acting studies, initially at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Within a mere two years following graduation, she launched her Broadway-based career. In the following year, she made her debut in the world of film and television. Her appearances have been on a variety of shows on stage, television and film shows since that time. In her professional career, she has won many awards, including two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of all these nominations and awards, her enthusiasm for the theatre isn't gone constant, as she continues to perform both onscreen and onstage.
